Cupra Born

Cupra Born performance electric car

Introduction to the Cupra Born

With Cupra being Seat’s performance-driven brand, it is no surprise that the Born is such a great sporty model, with elegant copper accents and many optional features to choose from to make it your own. The rear-wheel drive car accelerates 0-60mph in just over 7 seconds, so if you’re into sporty EVs, this one might be for you.

The car comes with 2 battery variations, a 58kWh and a 77kWh. The Born we offer at EZOO is equipped with the smaller of the two, yet it still offers 215 real-life miles on a single charge. Speaking of charging, it can easily be topped up overnight when plugged into a 7kW wallbox, with fast charging also available. A public DC charger will replenish the battery from 10% to 80% in around half an hour.

Features

The Cupra Born is spacious and comfortable inside, with plenty of room in the back. The hatchback structure of the back of the car and absence of a raised floor means that passengers can sit comfortably. A sporty yet comfortable feel is created in the front thanks to the leather bucket seats, which are available in 3 different colours.

Panoramic sunroofs are becoming more and more popular, and this chic, sporty model is no different. The Skyline pack comes with an electronically operated shade that can be opened and closed to your preference – via the controls on your infotainment system – to allow for just the right amount of light to enter.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available for those who wish to connect their smartphone to the car, and the display is presented on a 12-inch touch screen in the centre console.

Drivers have the possibility to download the My Cupra app, which has exclusive features specifically for electric vehicles, such as the e-Manager that slows you to set the desired battery percentage when charging or monitor the time left to charge. Other functions of the app include receiving alerts when a warning light appears, securing the doors and switching lights on/off, all done remotely.

Cupra’s technology implemented into the Born makes the car a dream to drive. Features such as parking sensors and the top view camera (that gives you 360° visibility of your surroundings) make parking effortless.

The Protection Pack equips the car with Pre-Crash Assist that prepares the vehicle and its occupants in the event of a collision. An anti-theft system is also part of this pack, fitted with an alarm, interior monitoring, backup horn and highly durable anti-theft bolts to keep your wheels securely locked in place.

Augmented Reality Head-Up (AR-HUD) multimedia system is available to display synchronised information from your dashboard right onto the windscreen. Accompanied by Travel Assist (semi-autonomous driving with a set of technologies), the Cupra Born helps you stay secure and alert on the road.

What we think

Many have compared the Cupra Born to the Volkswagen ID.3, and while it has a similar aesthetic, the Cupra definitely poses some competition at a comparable price. With a more aggressive, much sportier look, the Cupra Born surely is an excellent choice for a sports car enthusiast who wants a performance electric vehicle. As a new model that only came out in 2021, we can’t help but wonder what other designs the manufacturer will come up with.
